The “Bench Your Ego” Support Group

John Ruh  Continuous Improvement, Leadership, Professional Development

Does the following sound familiar?

  • Do you feel uncertain about what ego really is?
  • Do recurring issues keep showing up despite your best efforts to resolve them?
  • Do you struggle to understand why satisfaction can feel temporary or out of reach?
  • Do you wonder why your ego acts out and creates unnecessary stress or suffering?
  • Do you want to become a conscious, competent leader but are not sure where to begin?

Introducing the “Bench Your Ego” Model and Support Group
Created by John M. Ruh and influenced by the work of scholars and thinkers such as Viktor Frankl, Carl Jung, Dr. Hal Stone, and others. The Bench Your Ego Model is designed to support personal growth and conscious leadership. The model promises three outcomes:

  1. Reduce unnecessary stress and suffering.
  2. Teach you how to “bench” your ego.
  3. Create a quantum increase in support.

Note: These outcomes depend on doing the work to receive the benefits

What Is It?
The Bench Your Ego Model is a best-practice tool designed to support personal growth and conscious leadership.

Why Consider It?
Practicing this model will help you better understand and support your operating ego, a term used by Dr. Hal Stone, and reduce unnecessary stress/suffering along with giving you a proven tool with simple processes to learn how to bench your ego.

Who Is It For?
This program is for committed individuals who want to become conscious, competent leaders and learn more about the nature of their ego. This group and one-on-one process is not for those who believe ego is only an issue for others and not themselves.

How It Works – A Three-Step Process

Step 1: Assess readiness and leadership style.
A one-on-one conversation helps determine where you are on JMR’s Leadership Scale. The process begins with a tool designed to help you understand your natural “hard wiring.”

Step 2: Develop a personalized plan.
Your plan is developed and designed to fit your natural leadership style, circumstances, and pace.

Step 3: Group Support
You’re invited to attend periodic Bench Your Ego sessions with other Level 3 leaders, as well as additional cultural and leadership events.
